Updates in your computer systems and online technologies are essential. In many cases, companies will put off these things as if they are putting off an oil change. The problem, in this case, is that it leaves your company vulnerable to cyber threats and can cost you a lot more than just money down the road. So we wanted to send out a quick reminder of things to update now that we are in 2019:
  1. Windows 2008 and Windows 7 Desktops – these platforms will no longer be supported by Microsoft updates starting January 14th, 2020. If you are running these systems, we HIGHLY recommend calling us to update your servers to the most current Microsoft operating system.
  2. Passwords – make it mandatory for everyone in your office to update their email and system passwords.

3. Update your website and run the updates on your plugins – most updates to websites and plugins are to enhance a security feature to protect against hacking. Make sure to run updates and bring your website up to date.
4. Antivirus – we know we talk about antivirus a lot but it is very important. At the end of 2018, we saw several occurrences of ransomware that could have been avoided with up-to-date stronger antivirus software.
